Dale Jr. Wins Hendrick Debut!

2007 was a very rough year racing-wise for Dale Earnhardt Jr. as he failed to register a win for the first time since 2000. In June of last year, he announced that he would be moving from the company his late father founded, D.E.I. Enterprises, to Hendrick Motorsports, teaming with Jeff Gordon and two-time defending NEXTEL CUP champion Jimmie Johnson. Tonight, Dale Jr. made his debut for Team Hendrick in the Budweiser Shootout. Those who are longtime fans of his must have been thrilled with the result. "Junior" led 47 of the race's 70 laps, and finished just ahead of Tony Stewart for the win. His new teammates, Johnson and Gordon, finished third and fourth. A consistently competitive Dale Earnhardt Junior (unlike the one we've seen the past couple of years) is definitely good for NASCAR and it's ever-growing legion of fans!
