I'm sure that Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson did not at all like what he saw in the first quarter of tonight's game in Orlando against the Magic. The home team poured in a ridiculous 44 points against the Lakers in the first quarter tonight! In spite of that outburst, the Lakers only trailed by 11 points at that time, and by halftime, they actually led 64-63 as Kobe Bryant tallied 22 first-half points. The Lakers extended the lead to a 98-87 margin by the end of three quarters. From there, they managed to hold on, eeking out a 117-113 victory. Kobe finished the game with 36 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds. New acquisition Pau Gasol was a presence throughout, pouring in 30 points and grabbing 9 boards. Derek Fisher pitched in with 14 points and seven assists, while three other Lakers also scored in double figures. The win moves the Lakers to 32-17 and only two games back of the Phoenix Suns for the Pacific Divison lead.
