Dmitri Young (also know as "Da Meathook") came into the 2007 season just looking for a job. He comes out of the season as the National League Comeback Player of the Year. For much of second half of the season, Young flirted with the league batting title while playing first base for the Nationals before a September fade ended his hopes. Still, he picks up the award with a .320 batting average, 13 home runs and 74 RBI's. Congratulations, Dmitri to the culmination of a comeback season that really beat the odds! Good for him... Y'know, the Comeback Award is often times a pretty cool one. It's kind of a shame to get it in a way (since that means you have some "coming back" to do in the first place), but it's nice to give guys who overcome struggles some recognition.
Great job Dimitri. The NL and AL Comeback Awards were pretty easy topredict. With Young in the NL and Pena in the AL. Was nice he got rewarded with a nice contract as well. Don't know if it made sense for the Nats. But good for him.
