Lakers Crown Kings to Claim #1 Seed!

When it really mattered the most, the Los Angeles Lakers sucked it all up and played some of their best basketball of the season over the season's final week at the Staples Center. A rout of the Clippers on Thursday night, a win over the former #1 seed, New Orleans the next night and then a blowout victory over San Antonio on Sunday afternoon set the stage for last night's game against the Sacramento Kings. The Lakers were more than ready for the challenge as they blew out the visitors, leading by 14 points at halftime and by 29 after three quarters. None of the Lakers starters played as much as 29 minutes, and they all sat on the bench and got to savor their victory and securing of the #1 seed in the Western Conference with a record of 57-25. The final score: Lakers 124, Kings 101. In a season that began with so much turmoil, it's been quite an amazing run. Is another NBA title in the cards? Well, the Lakers will have to get through four opponents starting with either the Dallas Mavericks or Dnever Nuggets, and the Eastern Conference features the Boston Celtics (with the best overall record in the NBA) who beat the Lakers in both of their meetings so nothing is assured. One thing is for sure though - "Showtime" is back in L.A. and our Lakers are fun to watch again!!!
